首先请阅读下列六种家用电器的介绍:
A. Morphy Richards Coffee Maker
It has a programmable timer, so you can wake up to the
smell coffee. The easy-clean filter(过滤器) and
anti-drip device make it simple to maintain(保养).
B. Philips Juicers
It gives you all the juice thanks to its patented
micro-mesh filter and powerful 700W motor. The extra-large feeding tube easily
takes whole fruits and vegetables.
C. Panasonic Bread Makers
It is perfect for small living spaces. You’ll enjoy
wonderful fresh bread at the time you choose. It has a digital 13-hour timer,
which is great for cooking a loaf overnight ready for breakfast.
D. KDWTTB10 Compact Dishwasher
&& Stylishly designed in black, it is as
good looking as it functions. It promises to leave your dishes sparklingly
clean, again and again!
E. Russell Hobbs Regency Kettle
&& Its features: a rapid boil 3 KW concealed
element for last boili blue illum and
double water gauges(测量仪) for ease of viewing when filling.
F. Hoover Optima 6 kg Washing Machine
& It features a unique “teardrop” door design and
is user-friendly, which makes laundry days a little easier. Additional features
include a countdown digital display.
以下是用户体验,请匹配与之对应的家用电器。
1.It is a great size for a small kitchen. I think its
sleek black design is much more stylish than my old machine. You select the
temperature setting your requirements and then shut the door and press the
start button. It is very handy. It wipes clean easily as well. It also has an
effective drying cycle so items are very dry. The anti flood device gives me
much more security and the performance has been brilliant.
2.I think it’s amazing. It looks great. It also cleans
great. It has more than enough settings for all your wash needs and is
extremely quiet during all washing cycle, even on the 1600 spin. With 1600 rpm
speed of spin, the clothes are almost dry when they come out! It leaves the
contents spotlessly clean. The big door is very handy if you want to wash
duvets(羽绒服). I do love this washing machine!
3.You get what you pay for and it’s not expensive.
With an otherworldly light, it tells you how long the pot’s been sitting on the
warmer. And after an hour, it shuts itself off. In my experience, the biggest
problem is that there is no way you can make a full pot of coffee unless you
like it incredibly weak.
4.I have not been disappointed with it. The flip-top
lid makes it easy to fill. The large transparent “window” makes it easy to see
how much you are putting in—so you can choose the number of cups. It looks
great, boils quickly and holds plenty of water. The blue light up display when
boiling is a fun feature. I think it’s a good kettle and definitely worthy
money.
5.All I have to do is put the ingredients into its pan
and select my type and the time when I want it finished. If you want to wake up
to fresh loaf, you have to work out how many hours it will be between the time
you switch it on and the time you want it to be ready. Meanwhile, the recipe
that comes with it is very accurate and after three and a half hour you’ll have
the most tasteful bread you ever tried.

While watching the Olympics the other night, I came
across an unbelievable sight. It was not a gold medal,
or a world record broken, but a show of courage.
&&&&&&&& The
event was swimming and started with only three men on the blocks. For one reason or another, two of them false started,
so they were disqualified. That left only one to complete. It would have been difficult enough, not having anyone
to race against, even though the time on the clock is important.
&&&&&&&& I
watched the man dive off the block and knew right away that something was wrong.I'm not an expert swimmer, but I can tell a good dive
from a poor one, and this was not exactly medal quality. When he resurfaced, it was evident that the man was
not out for gold — his arms were waving in an attempt at freestyle. The crowd started to laugh.Clearly this man was not a medal competitor.
&&&&&&&& I
listened to the crowd begin to laugh at this poor man who was clearly having a
hard time. Finally he made his turn to start back.It was pitiful. He made a few
desperate strokes and you could tell he was worn out.
&&&&&&&& But
in those few awful strokes, the crowd had changed.
&&&&&&&& No
longer were they laughing, but beginning to cheer. Some
even began to stand and shout “Come on, you can do it!” and he did.
&&&&&&&& A
clear minute past the average swimmer, this young man finally finished his race. The crowd went wild. You would
have thought that he had won the gold, and he should have.Even though he was recorded one of the slowest times
in Olympic history, this man gave more heart than any of the other competitors.
&&&&&&&& Just
a short year ago, he had never even swum, let alone race. His country had been invited to Sydney.
&&&&&&&& In a
competition where athletes remove their silver medals feeling they have somehow
been cheated out of gold, or when they act so proudly in front of their
competitors, it is nice to watch an underdog.
1.From the passage we can learn that the young man
________
A. made his turn to start back pitifully
B. was skillful in freestyle in the game
C. swam faster than the average swimmer
D. was not capable enough to win the medal
2.The crowd changed their attitudes because ________
A. they felt sorry for the young man
B. they were moved by the young man
C. they wanted to show their sympathy
D. they meant to please the young man
3.According to the passage, “it is nice to watch an
underdog” probably means _______.
A. it’s amusing to watch a man with awful swimming
skills
B. it’s amazing to watch an ordinary man challenging
himself
C. it’s cheerful for athletes to act proudly before
their competitors
D. it’s brave enough for some athletes to remove the
silver medals
4. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. Compete for Gold!
B. Try again!
C. Break a Record!
D. Go for it!

Many cities have subways and underground
public transportation to take locals and tourists alike rapidly around the city. However, there’s something
different about riding a London subway. It may not look different, but the historical value of one of England’s
most popular forms of transportation is enough to make riding the subway a must
when visiting London. With a little under 300 different stations, the subway can take you
almost anywhere you need to go.
Riding a London subway, a person from other
countries will notice one major difference: in London, people do not look at
each other.In fact,
eye contact is avoided at all times. That’s not rudeness―people are just too busy to bother looking.
Busy doing what, you ask? Well, they’re
certainly not using the time for a moment of quiet thinking.Nor are they reading a book.New technology has replaced
quiet habits.Today
the only acceptable form of book on the London underground is an e-book.
Apple must earn a fortune from London
commuters(使用月票上下班者).Since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, over 40,000―yes, that’s
40,000 “apps” have been designed.
Commuters love them because they are the
perfect time-fillers.One “app”, called iShoot, is a game that features tanks.Another one, Tube Exits, tells
passengers where to sit on the train to be closest to the exit of their
destination.iSteam
clouds the iPhone screen when you breathe into the microphone. You can then write in the
“steam” on your phone screen.
For those without an iPhone, another Apple
product, the iPod, may be the distraction(消遣)of choice. It’s not just teenagers who “plug in” to their music-iPods are a popular way to pass
the time for all ages.
And if games, e-books and music aren’t
enough to keep you occupied, then perhaps you would prefer a film? The
development of palm DVD technology means many commuters watch their favorite TV
shows or films on the way to work. With all these distractions, it’s amazing that people still remember
to get off the train.
1.Those who want to save time to reach
where they go can download ______ to their iPhones.
D.Tube Exits
2.People in London do not make eye contact
on the subway because ______.
A.they are going to work and have no time to communicate with each
B.they are busy playing games, reading e-books, listening to music
or watching film
C.they feel sleepy because of getting up early
D.they love reading books and do not want to be disturbed
3.The underlined word “apps” in the fourth
paragraph means ______.
A.computers
B.fortune from London commuters
C.computer companies
D.programs downloaded for the iPhone
4.Which word best describes the writer’s
attitude towards commuters’ behaviors ?
B.neutral
C.against
D.hateful
5.The main idea of the passage is that
______.
A.London commuters are unfriendly to strangers
B.technology is changing how London commuters spend their traveling
C.Apple has earned a lot of money from selling 40,000 apps
D.riding a London subway is a must when visiting London

When you think of the tremendous
technological progress we have made, it’s amazing how little we have developed
in other respects. We may speak scornfully of the poor old Romans because they
enjoyed the seemingly excited killing that went on in their arenas(竞技场). We may despise them
because they mistook these goings on for entertainment. We may forgive them
because they lived 2000 years ago and obviously knew no better. But are our
feelings of superiority(优越)really justified? Are we any less blood-thirsty? Why do boxing
matches, for instance, attract such universal interest? Don’t the audience who
attend them hope they will see some violence? Human beings remain as
bloodthirsty as ever they were. The only difference between ourselves and the
Romans is that while they were honest enough to admit that they enjoyed
watching hungry lions tearing people apart and eating them alive, we find all
sorts of arguments to defend sports which should have been banned long ago.
  It
really is incredible that in this day and age we should still allow hunting or
bull-fighting, that we should be prepared to sit back and watch two men punch
each other in a boxing ring, that we should be relatively unmoved by the sight
of one or a number of racing cars crashing and bursting into flames. Any talk
of ‘the sporting spirit’ is merely hypocrisy(虚伪). People take part in violent sports because of
the high rewards they bring. Audience are willing to pay vast sums of money to
see violence. A world heavyweight championship match, for instance, is front
page news. Millions of people are disappointed if a big fight is over in two
rounds instead of fifteen. They feel disappointment because they haven’t
experienced the exquisite pleasure of witnessing continuous violence.
  Why
should we ban violent sports if people enjoy them so much? You may well ask.
The answer is simple: they are uncivilized. For centuries man has been trying
to improve himself spiritually and emotionally—though with little success. But
at least we no longer tolerate the sight madmen imprisoned in cages, or public
punishment of any of the countless other barbarous (野蛮的) practices which were common
in the past. Prisons are no longer the harsh forbidding places they used to be.
Social welfare systems are in operation in many parts of the world. Big efforts
are being made to distribute wealth fairly. These changes have come about not
because human beings have suddenly improved, but because positive steps were
taken to change the law. The law is the biggest instrument of social change
that we have and it may exert great civilizing influence. If we banned
dangerous and violent sports, we would be moving one step further to improving
mankind. We would recognize that violence is unworthy of human beings.
1.It can be inferred from the passage that
the author’s opinion of nowadays’ human beings is ________________
A.not very high.
C.scornful.
D.neutral
2.Why does the author mention the old
Romans in this article?
A.To reveal that the old Romans first started violent sports.
B.To prove that the old Romans were not civilized.
C.To show human beings in the past knew nothing better.
D.To indicate human beings today are as bloodthirsty as the old
3.How many dangerous sports does the author
mention in this passage?
4.&&&& What does the
author want to illustrate in this article?
A. By banning the violent sports, we human beings can improve
ourselves.
B. By banning the dangerous sports, we can improve the law.
C. We must take positive steps to improve social welfare system.
D. Law is the main instrument of social change.
