DEBRIS FLOW DEVELOPMENT TREND OF GUXIANG RAVINE,XIZANG
Zhu Pingyi Luo Defu Kou Yuzhen(Institute of Mountain Hazards and Knvironmet, Chinese Academy of Sciences & Ministry of Water Conservancy Chengdu 610041)
Through several field investigations to Guxiang Ravine in Xizang. The result showed that the catastrophic debris flow of Guxiang Ravine occurred in 1953,which caused by the earthquake in 1950. The earthquake caused catastrophic avalanches and collapses which,blocked the channel at the middle reaches of Guxiang Ravine by the influence of rainfall, temperature and ice-snow melt. The discharge reached 2. 86 × 104 m3/s- With the transportation of the materials in the catchment,the scale,unit weight and occurrence frequency of debris flow has a trend of decrease.
