IT IS WHEN THE BEST OF THE BEST COMES TOGETHER. A LONG CHERISHED PASSION FOR THE ARTS. MANY YEARS OF PRACTISE AS MODEL. SEVERAL YEARS USING THAT EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE CAMERA AS WELL. ALL FED BY AN ASPIRATION TO SET HIMSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE’S MINDS FREE AND USE ART AS A STATEMENT ABOUT THE MALE BODY. TO MOVE PEOPLE TO THINK OPENLY THROUGH HIS ARTISTIC PROJECTS. BOTH AS MODEL AND PHOTOGRAPHER. THAT IS WHEN WE CAN SPEAK OF A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN.
Having spent most of his life growing up in Israel,
did have the occasional opportunity to visit cities such as New York, Berlin and London. Cities that thrive on fashion, art and photography, three of Sam’s passions. Eventually Sam was offered the opportunity to move to the United States, Pittsburg PA to be precise. Once settled he contacted several artists and soon found himself in front of the camera’s of renowned photographers such as Walter Kurtz, Rick Day, Tom Bianchi, Robert Richards, David Vance, Thomas Synnamon and many more. Sam is an exceptional model. Handsome strong looks, compared to a perfect physique have landed him honourable places and pages in numerous photobooks by earlier mentioned artists. Though fulfilling his career as model was, Sam wanted more. And so he moved to Brooklyn and started besides his busy modelling schedule also to draw and photograph himself.

could have done. As mentioned before, Sam has three passions: art, photography and fashion, and New York has no shortage of that. As a photographer he started noticing that he really wanted to shoot the sophisticate fashionable contemporary look of the city and the current fashion stimulation that surrounds him non stop. Sam adores the fusion between classic and new, dandy and contemporary and the city provides an excellent background for this kind of creation. After having worked as both model and photographer for several years now, Sam is now ready to present us his own photobook. A book filled with portraits of male models in various themes. The photos Sam presents us today are all in window theme. Natural light, beautiful men and always combined with an element of the city Sam has grown to call home.
Walking through New York you really get that sensation of being in the centre of the world. It’s the culture, it’s the pace. It’s the fact that this city, indeed, never seems to be sleeping. But most of all it is the people who live here. This mix of different origins and backgrounds of people that now, almost 4 centuries after its establishment, has resulted in what almost seems to be a complete new kind of people: New Yorkers.
has adapted himself in no time and is by all means a true New Yorker. And so are his men. The boys he carefully selects for his artistic portraits. Sam’s male portraits are a vision of the city he holds close to his heart. They almost seem to be a mirror of the city themselves: subdued urban colors mixing often architectural elements with the strong physical presence of beautiful men. If these window-themed portraits are any indication of what Sam’s first photobook will look like, we can’t wait to see the final publication. And knowing what a high quality model Sam is himself, one can hope to maybe see one or two self portraits included. THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN OF MONTJU?C IS ANOTHER ONE. AND IF YOU ARE REALLY LUCKY BOOKING YOUR HOTEL, YOU MIGHT EVEN HAVE A VIEW ON THE SAGRADA FAMILIA. BUT THERE IS ONE HOTEL THAT HAS A VIEW THAT IS ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE IN THE SPANISH CITY. Barcelona is without doubt one of the most popular destinations in Europe. Not only due to its most agreeable climate and the fact it is facing the Mediterranean Sea. But also because the city offers a scala of unique tourist sites and many nice little hotels. One of the most popular is of course the Sagrada Familia, the giant basilica under construction. But there are others. Casa Mila or La Pedrera, the famous “other “ Gaudi building. Or the Placa Reial, a picturesque square situated just off La Rambla. But we found a hotel that shows a very different side of Barcelona, not less beauty though. We found a hotel with a view on .

Where other boys dreamed of being a fire fighter or police officer, Robbie wanted to be a model. He tried and failed. Due to the fact he stands “only” 1,78 meters /5’11” tall which is just too short to make it in the average length group to be a successful male model. Robbie faced many rejections and negative advises. But he never gave up, and eventually he got his break. Which resulted in a chain reaction of renowned photographers lining up to work with him. And rightfully so. Because Robbie Franco is hot. Something the world is rapidly discovering.
studied photography at the academy in Barcelona but knew already at age 15 photography was what he wanted to do in his adult life. Maybe it was that determination of knowing at young age what he wanted to be that drove him to work with Robbie, who clearly had a similar drive. Or maybe it was simply the fact that Gabriel saw in Robbie what others refused to see, but what is so abundantly clear. As mentioned before, Robbie is of Dutch and Spanish origin and his physical appearance combines the best of both cultures. He has that open innocent look that we so often see in the Dutch. He also has a beautiful tanned skin color, close to the olive colored Spanish skin. That combined with his piercing green eyes and smooth toned body makes Robbie in our eyes the perfect embodiment of the new European man. Plus he is not ashamed to show off his best assets. have worked together on numerous occasions. And it seems that the more they collaborate, the more at ease they are with each other. Which clearly shows in the portraits they created together in the bathroom of a hotel somewhere in Barcelona. A beautiful view on one of Barcelona’s most stunning attractions. –BM-
PASSION LEADS TO FIRE AND THAT CAN CERTAINLY BE SAID FOR THE WORK TONY VELOZ AND BRANDON CONNELLY DID TOGETHER. BUT HOW COULD IT BE ANY OTHER WAY WHEN YOU MATCH A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO IS PASSIONATE ABOUT ART, FASHION AND MUSIC, WITH A MODEL WHO – PHYSICALLY – ALMOST REPRESENTS THAT FLAME OF PASSION.   Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. One of the reasons for its historical growth is due to its strategic location as a seaport in the north, which made the city the perfect gateway during the Klondike Gold Rush, which brought prosperity to Seattle the moment the S.S. Portland docked here with its famed &ton of gold& back in 1897. Today Seattle is known as one of the coolest and fastest growing cities of the United States. It’s Space Needle proudly looking out over a shining city surrounded by sea, rivers, lakes and large forests that make the city perfect for outdoors sports fanatics. And wildfires. It might not come as a surprise that one dreams of becoming a fire fighter, when one is born and raised in Seattle. Seattle is known for its large wildfires and for many boy growing up there it must be a dream and challenge to be able to fight those all consuming flamed monsters.

is 24 years old and lives his life in Seattle. He started out modelling at the age of 19. He never did it for the fame and stardom. He decided to give modelling a try to build confidence, to feel more photogenic and to become more open and comfortable with himself and with others. Brandon is of Irish origin, which clearly shows in his features. Light skin and freckles and of course a flame of red hair, which makes him almost a symbol for his city. has nothing to do with Seattle. In fact, Tony lives and works on the opposite site of the United States, calling Washington DC his home. This however doesn’t stop him from shooting the hottest models in the country, Brandon Connelly being one of them. Tony was born and raised in Texas and ventured into photography shooting portrait and commercial work. Passionate about art, fashion and music he was inspired to seek a more creative outlet and it wasn't long before he was working with modelling agencies and fashion publications. THIS IS WHY SOME THINGS ARE WORTH KEEPING. AND ONE DAY YOU MIGHT FIND THAT THE COMBINATION OF DIFFERENT THINGS THAT SPROUTED AT THE SAME PLACE BECAME SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY. Oriol is one man with two outstanding qualities. Born in Barcelona in 1982, some might know him under the name Oriol Martinez, others as Oriol Soler. Two identities that fit together and compliment each other. So when photographer
had the opportunity to work with him, he looked for a place that would express those two different qualities. He found it in an old garage. At the age of 17 DJ Oriol Martinez began his journey in the world of music. And not without success. Two year after his debut, at 19, he won two music competitions which lead to various gigs at renowned venues such as The loft, La terra, Pacha Sitges, Sweet pasha, Kahlua Mora la nova, Xocolat Esparraguera and Buddha Malgrat de Mar and radio stations like Flaix FM and Flaix Bac. Oriol’s has a very versatile taste when it comes to house music and his style characterizes itself by a sublime simplicity. Besides DJing he also produces, his themes always reflecting that same finesse one can find in his life mixing.
In 2010, DJ Oriol Martinez joined Pachito Sitges as resident DJ. A local club that emerged from Pacha, one of the most prominent club chains in the world. Now in 2016 he can look back on a career in which he has worked for some of the most important festivals in the world, often in combination with fashion and lifestyle brand ES Collection. It is obvious Oriol takes good care of himself, but no matter how well shaped his body is and how good he looks in different settings, Oriol’s best asset is are his eyes. Or better said, the deep intense look he has that is one of the key elements every photographer wants to capture.
searched and found the perfect setting to present us the beauty of Oriol. No fashion. No music. Nothing that has to do with any of Oriol’s personalities, except of course the fact he poses. An old atelier where they used to make wooden wine barrels. The barrels where all handmade, with a passion and finesse not unlike the one Oriol puts in his music mixing. Though the owner still lives there, he gave up his craft of barrel making a long time ago, but kept his atelier in original state. Currently his son uses it as a garage where he keeps a beautiful Harley Davidson. Wine barrels and motorcycles. Two things that, when kept well, age perfectly to perfection. Just like Oril in both his mixing and modelling. Clearly a man who can spin different wheels. –BM-
EDITOR’S LETTERThe things we take for granted, because we know they are there but as we don’t see them they disappear from our visual and mental horizon. The past few weeks I have had the privilege to travel parts of the African continent and after having lived my whole life in one city or the other, saw with my own eye how beautiful and perfectly harmonized nature really is (even though one can’t escape the fact human footprints are everywhere). The spectacular landscapes of Etosha, Namibia will for always leave a vivid memory in my mind. The lush vegetation came to me as an explosion of greens I never even knew existed. And the animals, oh the animals. We encountered them all. The majestic lion, surrounded with his wife(s) and new born whelps. Herds of zebras and springbok as far as the eye can see. The rare black-faced impala, the oryx that drank water next to our tent in the middle of the night, arriving out of the dark like a silent ghost, the stately giraffes, so beautiful in their amazing coat and length, and so adorable when they try to hide between the acacia trees. The white rhino, mighty and fearful as they broke out from the foliage at high speed just in front of our jeep. The even more fearful black rhino, looking you in they eye while you count the seconds before this so short-tempered creature decides to charge. And the vigorous elephants, impressive in their full height and wait and oh so gentle when you look them in their eyes.What’s even more impressive is that all these species live in perfect harmony. Something we all know but to experience it first hand is a very different thing. Hunters and hunted. They are all part of the big circle we call life.  Predators don’t kill for their pleasure, or for the irrational ideas that other species don’t see the things the same way they do. Animals don’t know religion and won’t kill to defend unproved theories. They simply live and survive. The way zebras springbok, waterbok, giraffes and impalas gather together when a lion approaches, protecting their own and others. That is a sense of social behaviour we, as rational thinking human beings, often have forgotten to practise in our superior lifestyles. And though in the back of my head I knew this, seeing it for real is an entirely different thing, which I know will change my point of view on life forever.
